Located on the Crumlin Road at the corner of Tennent Street in North Belfast. The Savoy Cinema opened on 5th November 1934, with seating for 1,000 in the stalls and 250 in the balcony. It had a 25 feet wide proscenium.
Always independently operated, it was affectionately known as ‘The Cabbage’ by its patrons. The Savoy Cinema was closed in 1967. The building was converted into a car salesroom McGarrity’s Honda dealership, which had closed by 1997. The building lay empty and unused until July 2009, when it was demolished. The site was a vacant lot in May 2018.
