Opened on 15th October 1959 with a novelty (not named), a Tom.snd Jerry cartoon(not named), and “Sand”.

The marquee was still present in December of 2018, but was removed by May of 2019. However, the horse’s head is still present as of July 2022.

Boxoffice, April 27, 1970: “Acquisition of the Bronco Drive-In of El Paso … was announced by B. R. McLendon and Robert Hartgrove, chairman of the board and president, respectively, of McLendon Theatres … The Bronco joins the triple-screen Cinema Park Drive-In at El Paso as a McLendon operation.”

The North Loop Drive In, and the Bronco were two different theatres. The North Loop was later renamed the Lomaland Drive In, and two additional screens were added.

My 1954 El Paso phone book lists this drive in as North Loop Drive In Theatre. “Drive Out Tonight In Your Car For Comfort And Privacy.. There Are Always Top Features At North Loop”

Address listed back then was 8420 North Loop Rd. ULstr 9-9211

This one is demolished, and the Bronco Dance Hall stands on it’s site. However, the old marquee remains – and what a marquee it was. Full horses head with a sign beneath it. Search for the address in Google Maps – you can’t miss it.
