The Del Norte Drive-In opened September 25, 1947 with Douglas Fairbanks Jr. in “Sinbad the Sailor”. The car capacity was given at 500 cars. Closed in 1973 and has since been demolished.

Should be a flea market in the retail store parking lot on weekends, the retail store appears to have been closed long ago.
I spent a lot of time there as a kind in the late 60’s and early 70’s. Had a small playgound under the screen.
Was located on this large lot. Screen was parallel and close to Dyer St.

Early 50’s…my best friend lived near the Del Norte. In the summer when we had nothing to do and no money to do it, we would go around to the back of the theater and climb over the gate. Then sit in the play ground in front of the screen and watch the movie. Sometimes we would have 10 cents for popcorn.
This opened on September 25th, 1947. Grand opening ad in the photo section.
