- Sep 30, 2009 — Flagship Cinemas opens theater in Mechanicsburg
Originally opened as the AMC Hampden Center 8 on July 29, 1988. It was closed in 2008.
It was refurbished and reopened on September 19, 2009, operated by the independent Flagship Cinemas chain.
The screens are equipped with Digital 3D presentation, stadium seating, low-res shaker seats and the concession stand offers free soda refills. It was taken over by Carmike Cinemas in July 2014. Taken back by AMC in early-2017.

On December 18, 2013, this theater was acquired from Flagship Cinemas by Digital Cinema Destinations Corp. (Digiplex Destinations).

Try as hard as they did to get rid of this, AMC has it back again after the purchase of Carmike. :)
The Hampden 8 theatres were the twin sister (meaning built at the same time in 1988 and with the same plans) as the AMC Tilghman 8 in Allentown PA. The Tilghman 8 was just recently remodled into a upscale bar/recline-o-plex. However in order to purchase Carmike the justice department has made AMC sell the Tilghman 8 in Allentown. So not only has AMC has gotten the Hampden 8 back but at the same time was forced to sell the now more upscale Tilghman 8.
Which means this building (like the former AMC Tilghman 8 Theatre) was designed by the former Budco Theatres chain, but built by AMC Theatres
Now we got Tilghman back as an AMC
Opened as the AMC Hampden Center 8 on July 29th, 1988.
Closed by AMC in 2008 and reopened September 25th, 2009, as the Flagship Premium Cinemas. Another ad posted.
