Nice big grand opening ad: Odeon Atwater opening 19 Apr 1967, Wed The Montreal Star (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) Newspapers.com
3 screens on December 21st, 1979.
First movie I saw here was “Xanadu” in 1980, on screen one. The last was the re-release of “Heavy Metal” in 1996 on screen one. They had just installed the Sony Dynamic Digital Sound system. The only time I saw a movie when screen three was on the fashion level was “Time Bandits” in 1981. I miss this run of the mill mall cinema.

Joe, links are now dead, therefore I uploaded a picture of it here.
A small photo of the lobby of the Odeon Atwater Theatre from Boxoffice, September 25, 1967.
A view of the lobby from the opposite direction appeared in Boxoffice of January 15, 1968.
There was an EXPO 67 rash of new cinemas downtown, all in the Underground city
March 31st, Place Du Canada (Odeon)
April 18th, Place Bonaventure
April 20th, Atwater
December 22nd, The Cinema at Westmount Square.
All are gone now.

Does ANYBODY have a picture of this multiplex? It’s so hard to believe that despite 30+ years of operation, nobody seems to have posted any photographs of it online.
Nice find, Elissa, I guess that AMC across the street scared than away. Peter, Star Wars did not open here, it opened at Place Victoria, Place Bonaventure, Cote Des Neiges (both screens), CP Chateauguay and CP St. Eustache. Star Wars played its 1997 reissue here. The cinema I downstairs had 70mm.

Star Wars ran here for at least two years (1977-1978) first downstairs, then up. I remember driving in on my motorcycle from Pointe Claire to see it here more than 35 times! I recall that when they moved the print upstairs the projectionist re-cued it for the automation in that booth, and he applied the changeover tape about 2 seconds too soon, so about two seconds of reel 4 was always cut off (despite my repeated protests, may I add).
There was a Westmount Theatre operating in 1941 in Montreal. Seating capacity was given as 1,302.
I believe I saw Who’ll stop the Rain here in 1978. Was there a Montreal movie theatre actually called the “Westmount”?
