Opened in 1998 as a replacement for a twin theater at Belleville’s Quinte Mall and it is the first Famous Players theater to be rebranded as a Galaxy on November 9, 2009. Famous Players Belleville was the last two non branded theaters to be built. Like its newer counterpart in Vernon B.C., Belleville’s population was too small for a Silvercity theater. In 2005, Cineplex took over Famous Players.

In late-2009, the Belleville 8 was rebuilt with Cineplex Galaxy styled auditoriums unlike the original Silvercities with stadium rocker seats. The theater also has fast food outlets
