- Nov 18, 2009 — New Chattanooga multiplex emphasizes eco-friendliness
The Carmike Majestic 12 opened on November 7, 2009. It was designed by Artech Design Company.
One of the screens is a VIP adults only screen and there is an Ovation Room, which serves beer and upscale snacks, which can be delivered to customers sitting in their seats.
The Carmike Majestic 12, replaced Carmike’s Bijou Cinema 7 in the city.

The Majestic is a real delight! It is nice to see venues of this type which blend the best elements of the old and the new resurfacing in downtown areas. Photo from 2010:
Majestic exterior
The web site of Artech Design, architects of the Majestic 12, says that this was the first theater ever to receive LEED certification. The web site has several photos of the Majestic and of six other theater projects the firm designed (for the Majestic, click on the second thumbnail photo down in the right column of the page.)
The front of the Majestic is a nice, shiny bit of Postmodernism, but I have to say that the back section, where the auditoriums are, which was made to look like an old warehouse with its windows sealed up, looks just plain ugly to me. They could have done better.
