Showcase Cinemas Cincinnati Mills was closed by on
2/28/2010.
It was closed by National Amusements.
It was announced on 22/22/2009 that Rave Motion Pictures had purchased three National Amusements owned Cincinnati locations , that did not include the Showcase Cinemas Cincinnati Mills.
National Amusements informed Rave that this under performing location would be closed on February as the lease was set to expire.
Rave did take control of the underperforming Showcase Kings Island 12 .
The Kings Island was included as the the land was owned by National Amusements.
Rave took that property and immediately began to seek a new owner and use for it.
Kings Island later was closed and immediately redeveloped for a church.
The Showcase 10 Cincinnati Mills was located on the Mall’s upper level near the entrance to the parking garage.
This theatre is not to be confused with the 8 screen theatre that was in the food
court.
Correct address is 760 Cincinnati Mills Drive, Forest Park, OH 45240
The Showcase Forest Fair opened on December 21st, 2001 and renamed Showcase Cincinnati Mills in 2004 after the mall changed its name. Closed March 2010 after Rave did not want it.

Thanks Michael it is amazing the stuff you and Chuck1231 on old theatres.Wish i would have saved seven years of Boxoffice Magazines. While in the business.
By the way, the Showcase Cinemas that MikeRogers was thinking of now has a page here on Cinema Treasures.
CWalczak…I never said your comment was “nonsensical,” only that it didn’t make sense (to me). Meaning: I was surprised you were not able to “connect the dots” or “put two and two together” in regard to recognizing the theater Rogers was recalling could not possibly be the one you thought it was.
Now having read the Albee page I can see why you thought what you did. It seems you guys came to an unknowingly faulty conclusion based on some erroneous and misleading details mentioned in that discussion. It’s too bad I hadn’t seen the Albee page sooner and chimed in because then the discussion on this page might not have spun out of control.
I do think many of you are too sensitive about being corrected. It’s as if everyone is expected to unconditionally accept and love all comments which defeats the purpose of an information resource.
I do not agree that I’m abrasive or hurtful (at least not in intent), but I will admit that I can be pretty impatient with some people on these message boards. I’ll work toward improving my interaction with others. (Contact me via email if you wish to discuss further.)
CWlaczak, thanks for your kind words about my seach for Showcase 4.I should be more careful because the first thing I learned real quick that there folks on here that know everything.I had a guy correct me on the opening year of a Twin theatre that I was House Manager on and I think this guy lived in L.A..
Michael: Mike Rogers posted his original inquiry about a Showcase Cinema in Cincinnati on the Cincinnati Albee Theater page some days ago. It is hardly the first time that someone has posted an inquiry about a particular theater on another theater’s entry page if they are in the same area and the one being inquired about does not appear to have a page of its own.
This is is essentially what Mike posted on the Albee page: (I have combined two comments and done a bit of editing:
“…Do you know anything about SHOWCASE CINEMAS in Cincinnati? I know it was a modern theatre, but I can’t find this fourplex anywhere on CT…All I know it was located near the Tri-County Shopping Center near I-275. So this fourplex could be [now] be10 screens [i] just don’t know. It was a major theatre complex when it opened in the 70's…. It was called in 1974 SHOWCASE CINEMAS 1.2.3.4.”
I hardly find it “nonsensical” that I should question whether this Cincinnati Mills theater might be the theater Mike had in mind since a) it is in Cincinnati, and b) it is off of I-275 (which I knew from experince). As it turned out, he was thinking of the theater in Springdale, not actually in Cincinnati proper. I was simply trying to raise a point in the interest of accuracy.
Michael, no one on CT admires your probing research and detailed articles more than I, and I too wish that the some site rules were more rigorously observed. However, I think your comments are occasionally unnecessarily abrasive and hurtful.
I was just going on infomation from CWalczak was giving me i wanted to put it in the right spot. As far as my Augusta Theatres and Michael is speaking about 70mm,As I told him I was going by what two Projectionist in the old Local 518 told me for my history of Augusta Theatres. Granted, i certainly don’t know it all; most of my infomation comes from discussions with projectionists filed away in my mind back in the 70’s since only one is still alive that played 70mm. I don’t have files and files of clippings from BOxoffice. have a nice day,Micheal.
Apparently, some of you do not share my concern about the importance of credibility with websites that rely on user-submitted content. But, then, what do you know about credibility, Chuck? An alarming number of your posts are riddled with factual errors and misspellings…and you don’t seem to care…and, unfortunately, neither do the site’s owners. Whenever someone points out an error to you, you tend to either not respond or you come up with some lame explanation for why you think you’re being mistreated and end up ignoring the real issue of the accuracy of the information.
It is inevitable that some folks think I’m a jerk for offering corrections. Let’s face it…some people just cannot handle being corrected, regardless of how any corrections are conveyed. Others, though, don’t seem to have a problem with me because they understand that I care about accuracy and they appreciate that I actively participate in the exchange of information even when it entails engaging in an argument or debate.
Chuck… It’s Springdale, not Springfield.
<<< I am not sure he is wrong; on another page he indicates that the mall is off I-275, and this one is. The mall opened as The Forest Fair Mall in 1988 and the theater opened as the Forest Mall Cinemas. >>>
CWalczak… Your comment makes no sense! What does his comment about the location of the mall in proximity to the interstate have to do with anything??? He’s describing the Showcase Cinemas in Springdale, a stand-alone theater located, as MarkL explained, a few miles from where the theater described on this page is located. That he commented about 1974 showtimes on a page for a theater that opened in 1988 ought to have been the first clue that he was posting on the wrong page.
I love Rogers' enthusiasm, but I think many will agree his posts can be pretty scatterbrained if you’ve spent any time reading his Augusta theater ramblings.
Cincinnati Mills is about 3 miles west of Showcase Springdale. I believe it is of 1990’s vintage.
Mike Coate is right on this one…the prestige theatre was the Showcase Springdale. The original Springdale was a very fine theatre, running many 70mm features. It was torn down in the last few years to be replaced by an 18-plex Showcase “Cinema de lux”.
I am not sure he is wrong; on another page he indicates that the mall is off I-275, and this one is. The mall opened as The Forest Fair Mall in 1988 and the theater opened as the Forest Mall Cinemas. It became a Showcase after acquisition by National Amusements. The mall declined over the years and is basically an outlet mall.
MikeRogers… I think you are posting on the wrong page. The theater you are describing sounds like the Showcase Cinemas in Springdale (which I don’t think has a page here on Cinema Treasures). Showcase Springdale opened in the early 1970s; Cincinnati Mills is a newer complex.
The 4-plex had exclusive rocking chair lounges and it was called going to the movies here was a Cincinnati EVENT.
