Located in the east London district of Poplar at 12-13 King Street (which no longer exists) and the corner of West India Dock Road. The Popular Kinema opened in 1915, but soon closed due to conditions during World War I.
In 1923, it was re-opened as the Ideal Picture Palace. It had a 12 feet deep stage and two dresssing rooms, and presented film and variety. It closed in September 1940, when it was badly damaged by German bombs.
