The entry should be the AMC Bellair Theaters 2. That was its moniker from October 15, 1982 with “My Favorite Year” and “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” to the “temporary closure” on March 31, 1988. (Its former names were the Bellair Plaza Cinema I & II, Bellair Cinema Theatre, and Cinema Theatre.)

In August of 1988, TPI Enterprises of New York took on the venue along with the Daytona 6 and Volusia Market 8. They opted not to reopen the venue. And it sat vacant for nine years.

In February of 1997, musician Charlie Floyd signed a 21-year lease to open a live country music venue in a plan to convert the theater back to a single auditorium. In May of 1997, the venue was scrapped in favor of another cinema in far better condition. Tre Plaza operators gave up in late summer of 2000 after more than a dozen years of vacancy and demolished the Cinema.

Operated by General Cinema throughout most of its life, it was taken over by AMC in 1982. It was closed on March 31, 1988 with “Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach” in Screen 1 and “Three Men And A Baby” in Screen 2.

I fondly remember this cinema and the shopping plaza. When my parents used to vacation in Daytona Beach, this plaza was always a destination a couple times during our stay. My parents took us to see The Beatles' HELP here. The last first run movie I ever saw at the cinema was JAWS.

“Went under the AMC banner in 1983.”

The correct year when AMC took over operations was 1982.
