The Piedmont Drive-In opened on September 14, 1949 with Andrea Leeds in “The Goldwyn Follies”. Car capacity was listed at 400 cars. The Piedmont Drive-In was operated by Consolidated Theatres.

The drive-in closed in early-1975.

Late 60s we used the entrance to the Piedmont Drive In as the starting point for ¼ mile drag races on 29 Southbound. I had a 66 GTO, and left a mass of rubber on the roadway. There was almost never any traffic on 29 after 9:00 pm.

The Piedmont Drive-In opened on September 14, 1949 with Andrea Leeds in 1938’s “The Goldwyn Follies” along with an unnamed cartoon and a newsreel, and closed in Early 1975.
