I lived a block from the South Drive In. My parents were avid movie goers, especially to the drive ins in Greensboro. The South had a huge screen with enclosed storage behind it. It also had a playground in the grassy area in front of the screen! During the early 70s, it turned into an “x-rated” drive in theater and closed in the mid-70s.

I worked at the Piedmont Drive In during high school. Good times. Other drive-ins in Greensboro were the Park at Old Battleground and the Skyline at Highway 29 North.

3900 W Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27407 is now the proper address for this Drive-In. 3900 High Point road maps to an empty lot that never held a drive in according to Historic Aerials.
