The Liberty Theatre was opened by 1935. By 1949 it was operating as an African-American theatre. Seating was listed at 676, it was operated by Mann Theatres.
The theatre was still open in 1955. It was then in use as a night spot of one kind or another for many years. The roofless shell of the theatre is still standing facing a railway track under the Beck Overpass.
