Located on New Road at the corner of Blaenwern. The Castle Cinema was opened on the 20th March 1954 under the ownership of Mr James Rees who had continued films at the "Cinema", Newcastle Emlyn after Mr Partington ceased showings. Of modern design it was appended by a cafe which was open during the day.
Cinemascope was installed but the cinema was always up against the low population of the area around it and closed for good in October 1967.
Jewsons took over the building but had moved out when I visited the area in March 2010, and the building was available for rent or sale. It was demolished in 2021 and a Co-Op supermarket has been built on the site.

Sorry, just received some updated information. This cinema opened on the 20th March 1954 and closed in October 1967. Showings were on four nights a week with two changes of programme per week, one running from Tuesday to Wednesday, the other on Friday and Saturday evenings. Programmes started at 7.30pm. BY October 1966 there were two shows perweek on Wednesday and Saturday evenings only, still with different films each night.
Following a visit to Newcastle Emlyn in June 2018 I was fortunate to be in contact with Ken Jones, chairman of the local history society. He kindly sent me the scans of the programme booklets for March 1960 and April 1967.
Totally demolished in 2021. A new Co-op Supermarket now stands on the site.
