- May 26, 2010 — San Diego Council approves plan to demolish Starplex theater
This cinema opened on August 10, 1990 as Mann Brickyard 7, it was soon renamed Mann Hazard Center 7 on September 21, 1990. It was briefly operated by Madstone from August 9, 2002 and later taken over by Ultrastar Cinemas. In 2010, it was announced that this theater will eventually be demolished as a part of plans revitalize the center, although to-date, this has not happened. It has been home to the San Diego Asian and Latino film festivals.
It was taken over by Digiplex Destinations in December 2012, and returned to Ultrastar Cinemas in February 2014.

Digiplex Destinations acquired the Mission Valley 7 from Ultra Star in December 2012.
And in February 2014 it once again became an UltraStar theater. Why, I don’t know.

“On February 14, 2014, the Mission Valley Theater, located at 7510 Hazard Center Drive, San Diego, California became part of UltraStar Cinemas and is no longer a member of Digiplex Destinations. Digiplex also now owns the Sparta theater since AMC bought carmike in nj.
This opened as the Mann Brickyard 7 on August 10th, 1990 and renamed Hazard Center 7 on September 21st, 1990. Grand opening ad posted.
