The local report reported that Paul Sungenis closed on January 30, 2007 with “We Are Marshall,” “Casino Royale” and “Flushed Away.” (The last ad suggests February 8, 2007 with “Casino Royale,” “Eragon” and “Arthur & the Invisibles” though those almost certainly did not run. And it may have continued unadvertised, as well.)
The theater was located behind the Vineland Shopping Center. That report recalls that Sungenis reopened on December 14, 2001 with “Atlantis: The Lost Empire,” “Monty Python &THG,” “Extreme Days,” and “Tape” while retaining the previous operator’s seat capacity of 1,290. The next occupant operated a house of worship likely to reduce taxing liability.
Actual 1999 closing date is September 4, 1999.
A friend and I traveled to Vineland from Northern Virginia to visit the new Vineland Theatre as our former manager Mr. John Kane was their new manager. The new theatre was gorgeous, the presentation of “Torn Curtain” was flawless. I was jealous of the brand new projection equipment. Fast forward neatly 40 years. Now a field service tech I received a call from the DeMarco Cinemas. As I drove into the parking lot I realized this was the same theatre from 1966. I ended up replacing a part on one of the original projectors I marveled at once upon a time.
2 screens on July 3rd, 1974, 3 screens on December 22nd, 1978, 4 screens in 1987. Closed in 1999 and reopened as USA Grandslam Cinema on May 3rd, 2000 and closed in early 2001. Reopened again as DeMarco Cinemas on December 18th, 2001

A picture of the closed Demarco Cinemas can be seen here and one of its shopping center signage can be seen here.
The theater still stands. I visited just after the big storm that hit vineland in the summer of 2012. “The hills have eyes” still in the poster box outside. The last film too play. Someone maintains it.They brought part of the sign in from the storm and it looks likes some work was actively being done in the lobby.
PLEASE CHANGE NAME TO:
DE MARCO 4
AKA:
VINELAND
VINELAND 4
Open Late 1970’s-2008?
Late 1970’s opens as a twin by Budco Quility Theaters Inc.?
Early 1980’s 3 screens?
1986 taken over by American Multi-Cinemas (AMC)?
By 2001 renamed De Marco Cinemas
Anyone have more info or photos?
Was this the Budco Vineland Twin during the 1970s? I ask because I notice the intro mentions a record run of “Jaws,” yet in my JAWS retrospective article I cite the Vineland booking as being at a “Vineland Twin” rather than a “Demarco Cinemas.” Is Demarco a later name, or is this a different theater?
I think it is safe to say"JAWS" broke records everywhere,Steve.
