Charleston U.S. Air Force Base Theater

This theater is on the Charleston U.S. Air Force Base also called Joint Base Charleston because it includes the U.S. Naval Weapons Station. It got started in 1941. The base shares runways with Charleston International Airport. The AFB is home 628th Air Base Wing and 437th Airlift Wing which has the newest airlifter the GIANT C-17 GLOBEMASTER III, which is large enough to be used as a movie theater. It has a population of over 3,000 active duty and over 5,000 family members.

The theater is in Building 219. The theater was closed for two years, had a total renovation and reopened in October of 2007. It can accommodate large gatherings, commander’s calls and stage productions. Flicks are shown Friday and Saturday at 19:30 and Saturday at 14:00. Admission Prices: Adults $4.00(12 years and older) Children $2.00.

If you click on the map, the theater is the Second Building Southeast of the Red Dot. From the “stuff” in the parking lot it looks like the photo was taken while the renovation was takeing place.
