The Sage Drive-In was opened by 1953 when it was operated by Lee Welch. Shows up clearly on map images. Van Horn is a big town considering it’s miles from any significant population.

silicon Sam , I see a SAGE DRIVE-IN THEATRE in Van Horn owned by Lee Welch.Could this be the Drive-in you submitted.1956 Motion Picture Almanac.
Absolutely it could be. I don’t have all the resources you guys have so I named it and hoped someone would come in and correct it.
I am so glad I found that old book in a closed Theatre.wish I had many more.
There was another theatre in Van Horn. When I first passed through in the mid 90s the skeleton of it was still standing.
the ramps outer fencing concession stand and screen foundation still remain. also i uploadesd a 1963 aerial.
oh it also appears a skeleton ticket booth also remains as well it could be reopened with some work and i think this area could use a theater.
Motion Picture Exhibitor, Nov. 10, 1954: “Mr. and Mrs. Lee Welch installed CinemaScope at the Sage and Sage Drive-In, Van Horn, Tex.”
