The Park Theatre was the first in Villa Park. Designed by Glen Ellyn architects Frederick G. Walker and Austin Angell of firm Walker & Angell, the theatre was announced December 26, 1926. However, the next week another theater, which was never built was announced for Villa Park. A third announcement came in May for the Villard Theatre, which was built; work had not yet begun on the Park Theatre.
Villa Park essentially had two seperate downtown sections, and the Park Theatre, never able to compete with the better-located Villard Theatre. It opened in 1927 and closed in 1947, and is now mostly forgotten. It was used as a roller rink, then for basketball games, and is now a warehouse.
