Opened July 28, 1960. The WAWA Drive-In was a nice size drive-in that tried to book movies for families in the Syracuse area. On May 14, 1970 you can’t go wrong with "Bandolero" and the sci-fi "Journey to the Far Side of the Sun". May 14, was also a special night at the WAWA Drive-In, they were opening for the 1970 summer season! It continued to operate into the 1980’s/

This is at North Webster on route 13 at East 800 N.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 8200 Indiana 13.
Odd name!! Why was it called WAWA?
The WAWA probably comes from the name of Chief Wawasee of the Miami tribe who lived in the area around 1830. There is also Wawasee high school and Lake Wawasee nearby. Around 1980 the drive-in began showing only XXX films. This went on for several years until VHS porn finally brought it down.
