This theatre was opened by Storey Theatres Inc. on September 30, 1987. The first week it was open they showed “Crocodile Dundee”, “Top Gun”, “The Sound of Music” and Humphrey Bogart in “The African Queen”. The first new movie I saw there was “Surrender” starring Sally Fields. Storey Theatres operated this theatre as a first run operation for many years. They operated on an all day grind schedule year round. I’ve seen great films there and my most favorite movie of all time “Gone With The Wind” played for 2 weeks there. It was in their biggest auditorium on their largest screen it made the movie great!
Lakeshore was my dads favorite place to see a movie. Even my mother saw two movies at Lakeshore “Home Alone 2”, and “Driving Miss Daisy” and she rarely goes to the movies. The popcorn was always good as well as the projection and sound. When the Hollywood 15 opened Lakeshore continued to show first run films as Georgia Theatre Company took over operations after Storey Theatres folded.
Lakeshore became a 99 cent theatre after 2000 and closed September 2007. It was boarded up and was demolished in 2014. It was located in the food court of the mall.
