Midway Drive-In

The Midway Drive-In was located in beautiful Nova Scotia in the small town of Sydney. It parked 700 cars making it a huge drive-in for that region. It was owned by Franklin-Herschorn Theatre Co. Ltd. On April 14, 1973 and "Easy Rider" and "Gumshoe" are playing. Snack bar stayed opened until last feature was over!

Approximate address is 1596 Grand Lake Rd, Sydney, NS B1M 1A1, Canada. A self-storage business is on part of the site, some very faint remains of the ramps can be seen and on some older aerial images the foundation of the concession building can be seen.

The 1959 Motion Picture Almanac listed the Midway with a 750-car capacity.

Boxoffice, March 23, 1970: “The Franklin and Herschorn circuit, after 60 years in the motion picture business, has been sold to Famous Players Canadian Corp. Theatres involved are … Midway Drive-In, Sydney, N.S.”
