I had a feeling it was probably gone, but didn’t want to add it on the header because there are so many of these theatres now being saved,if there is anything left to save.

Open ~1935-~1975? Can anyone verify the exact dates?

Mount Vernon is the home of Cornell College which was founded in 1853, so many students must have went to the Strand.

Need an address, more info and photos.

When I attended Cornell College from September 1988 until January 1989, I saw “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” in September 1988 at a theater in town. It was only open on the weekends. Ah, yes… “The Odeum”! Let me add it!

The original movie theater in Mount Vernon, called “The Strand” was on 1st Street where the Fire Station and City Hall are now located. It was destroyed in April, 1975 by a fire that started in an adjoining building. Several buildings were destroyed in addition to The Strand.
