Famous Players opened the Prince Rupert Cinemas on April 8, 1982. Seating is listed at 933. The theatre closed for a period of time in 1997 due to a projectionist’s strike.

Cineplex Odeon took over operations in 2005. The theatre features first run attractions. Seating is listed at #1-251, #2-370.#3-312. This is the last of the three theatres in Prince Rupert still in operation. (The Capitol Theater and the Totem Theater, both operated by Famous Players, were previously closed.)

According to the PDF article supplied by Mike Rivest (on page 5), the Prince Rupert Cinemas opened on April 8, 1982.
