The Crest Theatre opened on February 9, 1950. Their first feature presentation was “The Inspector General” with Danny Kaye.
The Crest Theatre was an ultra modern design with natural flagstone and evergreens decorating the front of the building. The marquee was rounded in keeping with the ultra modern design. The lobby and restrooms had murals lining the walls and there was comfortable colored furniture as accents to the lobby. The auditorium was lined with indireect lighting and colorful curtains.
I couldn’t find the timeline for closing but the building is now an office building and makes up part of the Country Club Plaza.

Structurally, the building is still there, but has been converted to office space and is not particularly recognizable.
Grand opening ad posted.
