From the April 4, 1953 Motion Picture Herald: “Nashville will have a new drive-in theatre soon, to cost $120,000, and to be run by the new Bel-Air Drive-In Theatres Company, of which the president will be Charles Henritz, who also will manage the house. The 700-car unit is expected to start operation June 1. Associated with Mr. Henritz arc Charles Kuertz and James Ferguson.”
From Motion Picture Exhibitor, Nov. 13, 1957: “Mark Cummins, Cincinnati, is the new owner, Bel-Air, Colonial, and Warner Park Drive-Ins from the Condra Amusement Company, Nashville, Tenn.”
Opened with “The half-breed”.

Thanks for posting the Nashville Theatres photo Danny.
We lived near the Bel-Air when I was a child and have many happy memories of the adventure of going to the movies there. We were allowed to wear our pajamas and sometimes we were allowed to sit on the roof of the car, which I’m sure annoyed anyone behind us. I distinctly remember seeing “South Pacific,” “Moby Dick,” “The Ten Commandments,” and some Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis movie there. Somewhere I have a great photo of the marquee but it’s hiding from me. I’ll post it if it turns up.
As an adult, I never worked there. However, I did go there with my father who was into war films and saw “Von Ryan’s Express”.
Imax i worked the World Premier of the W.W. movie at the Loews Crescent remember anything about that theatre?
The Bel-Air was near the intersection of Charlotte Ave. and White Bridge Road. I trained there as a projectionist. The Drive-in scenes of “W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings” was filmed there.
