No, the Sundown was located on the north side of Columbia, the Dan Dee was located on the south side. Both theaters were in operation for several years.
I just posted a souvenir of this theater dated 1950 celebrating its one year anniversary – making 1949 as the start date, I think
The Dan Dee was named after me and my twin sister.
We were born in 1947 one of our cousins suggested the name. Hoping we could find some pics back then…but no luck. I had a pic of Andy Devine who made an appearance at the drive▪in but could not fine.
Dan,
Can you tell us what street the drive-in used to be on, and what’s on the property now?
Boxoffice, May 19, 1958: “H. P. Vinson jr. has also reopened the DanDee Drive-In, Columbia, Tenn., which had been closed for some time. Vinson also operates the Sundown Drive-In, Columbia.”
