The Strand Theatre opened November 4, 1939. It is listed in the 1941 edition of Film Daily Yearbook as part of the T & D Jr. Enterprises chain. There is no seating capacity given, which is usually an indication of a recently opened theatre. In the 1943 edition of F.D.Y. it is listed with 800 seats and (Closed).

An item in the Madera Daily Tribune dated October 26th, 1939 gives an opening date of November 4th for the Strand Theatre on C Street.
