The Madera Opera House was opened in the late-1880’s. Around 1912 Charles Leggett began screening the first films to be screen in Madera in the Madera Opera House. In the late-1930’s it was remodeled and reopened on February 28, 1939. It was destroyed by fire on November 30, 1940.
A New Madera Theater was built on the site, which opened on September 5, 1941 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
