The GBPC Ltd acquired the four Pavilion cinemas when created and floated in April 1927. The process of acquisition was completed on 20 May, and Electric Pavilions Ltd (i.e. Mr & Mrs Israel Davis) hosted a farewell party for employees and friends at the Shepherd’s Bush Pavilion on Saturday 4 June 1927.
So the sentence “The Pavilion Cinema was taken over by Gaumont British Theatres in 1923” is not correct.
I worked here for Top Rank Bingo 1969/71 and remember the cinema reopening …am fairly sure Wendy Craig and possibly Mark Lester were at the event….Pete Murray opened the bingo club previously…always recall the building had a lift that went up to the roof…was also a managers flat in the building.

Drove past yesterday. Not much left…..
Demolition of the auditorium is now underway.

So many of Ranks former cinemas are now derelict eyesores

The upstairs screen was seen in a Derren Brown show on Channel 4 a while back. A group of public and showbiz people were taken blindfolded to a mystery location for a show by Derren that was televised. Eagle eyed cinema buffs should have spotted the location at once.
I drive past this building every day. Such a waste to see it sitting there, gradually falling apart….
Despite plans being approved in 2004 for a hotel in the this Grade II Listed building, nothing has happened as yet. It sits empty and derelict and has been added to the ‘Buildings at Risk’ register by English Heritage.
A close-up view of the former Pavilion (Odeon) Shepherds Bush as seen in October 2005. On the immediate left of the shot is part of the facade of the former Pykes Cinematograph Theatre (latterly known as Odeon 2 Shepherds Bush):

The bingo operation in the former stalls area closed in 2001. As at June 2004, plans have been approved to convert the Grade II listed building into a 182 bedroomed hotel.
