Located in the Saltley district to the northeast of Birmingham city centre. The Saltley Picture Palace was opened on 3rd July 1911. The architect was given as Harry H. Reynolds, although some sources name Archibald Hurley Robinson as being involved.
It was operated by Cinema Proprietors, and was sold to Associated British Cinemas(ABC) in 1929. They closed it in 1932 when the Rock Cinema opened nearby. The Saltley Picture Palace was later converted into a nightclub.
It was re-opened as the Palace Cinema on 6th October 1979 with John Travolta in “Saturday Night Fever”. It operated a couple of years, and then closed becoming the Saltley Supermarket in November 1984.
By July 2008, having lost its decorative facade, it was operating as the Kyber Restaurant.
