The 6-screen Fox Theatre opened on December 6, 1983. In 1996 it was taken over by Carmike. It was located in inside the Dover Mall, an enclosed shopping mall. In 1999 it was expanded to 14-screens. In 2016 it was taken over by AMC. It was closed on March 17, 2024.

Fox Theatre of Reading opened its Dover Mall Cinema on December 6, 1983 with Trading Places, A Christmas Story, Christine, All the Right Moves, Amityville in 3D, and Seven Doors of Death. in 1996, Carmike purchased Fox Theaters including the Dover Mall location as the Carmike Cinemas 6 Dover Mall.
In 1999, Carmike expanded here to 14 screens as the Carmike 14 Dover Mall. In 2016, AMC purchased Carmike’s operations along with its Dover Mall location renaming it as the AMC Dover 14. The theater was rebranded in 2018 as the AMC Classic Dover 14. Not long after is its 40th year anniversary, AMC announced that it would cease operations at the AMC Classic Dover 14 after the close of business on Sunday, March 17, 2024 as the chain continued to wind down aging Classic properties reaching lease termini.
