Nearby Theaters
Located on 6th Avenue near the Veterans Hospital. The Driv-In was the first drive-in theatre to open in Tucson. It was opened on June 25, 1940 with Barbara Stanwyck and William Holden in “Golden Boy” and Anne Nagel in “A Bride for Henry”. It was closed and demolished in 1942.

This opened on January 25th, 1940. I uploaded the grand opening ad in the photo section.
Boxoffice, March 30, 1940: “Tucson, Ariz. - This community now lays claim to having the only woman manager of a drive-in theatre in the United States. Nelle Brock, formerly of Cincinnati, has replaced A. W. Bartlett as manager of the Drive-In Theatre here.”
