 Coventry Hall Picture House

Located on Wakefield Road, between Coventry Road and New Hey Road. The cinema was built at the rear of existing premises on Wakefield Road which had housed a coffee tavern. The Coventry Hall Picture House was opened on 22nd April 1913 with Asta Neilson in “The Dawning”. Seating was provided on a single level.

In 1930, the facade was altered to a Tudor style. The Coventry Road Picture House was closed on 12th December 1959 with Lawrence Harvey in “Room at the Top”. It was later demolished with the widening of Wakefield Road.
