The second screen was added in 1972 and the drive-in closed in 1976. It was last operated by Kerasotes Theatres. Car capacity was 700 after the second screen was added.
Correction: This drive in was located at 8570 U.S. 24, now Taylor, MO 63471. The Shell gas station is just west of the property. Some ramps are still visible.
Please update.
“September 8 (1949) was the opening date for the Quincy Drive-In at West Quincy, Mo. World Theatrical Enterprises of St. Louis is the owner.” – BoxOffice, Sept. 10, 1949
Boxoffice, May 6, 1963: “A new building containing projection booth, cafeteria, restrooms and concessionaire’s offices was constructed at the Quincy Drive-In, West Quincy, prior to the spring opening of the Kerasotes airer. The building, with completely new equipment in every area, replaces one destroyed by fire last December.”
Boxoffice, Oct. 1, 1955: “The Quincy Drive-In on Route 24 operated under lease by Mayor Ray Parker of Brentwood, Mo., was closed Sunday (18) because highway construction activities in the vicinity made it difficult for patrons to attend the theatre. The early closing was unfortunate because the drive-in had enjoyed nice business, and weather conditions now are ideal for drive-in operations.”
Sometime between 2009 and 2012 the screen near the road was taken down.
