The Cine Broadway was opened in 1930. With perfect acustics, a curtain from New York and seats from Chicago and Nuremberg, there was a cabaret and a bakery store in the basement, and above the cinema a 10-floor building with 33 apartments for rent. The Cine Broadway was also the first cinema in Latin America with air conditioning.
In 1999 the building was renovated and only the original facade survives. No longer used as a cinema, but still operating as a theatre.

Es un error afirmar que la sociedad Gourdy Hnos. operó el Cine Teatro Broadway. El mismo fue construido y equipado por A. Álvarez & Cía, la empresa propietaria. Gourdy Hnos. sólo construyó el edificio sobre la sala, en terrenos de quien fue padre de sus titulares, Augusto Gourdy. La familia Gourdy se asoció a Augusto Álvarez para construir la parte proporcional del edificio, pero nunca explotó la sala. La misma estuvo en manos de A. Álvarez & Cía hasta el 1 de enero de 1939 cuando pasó a manos de la compañía Cavallo-Lococo-Lautaret y poco después a Lautaret-Cavallo-Cordero.
