Located in the Midtown Plaza Shopping Center. The Plaza Theatre was opened as a single screen on October 28, 1969 with Paul Newman in “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”. It was twinned on June 15, 1973 and operated until at least the mid-1980’s. It was owned by Metropolitan Theatres.

The building has been demolished and now the Escondido Edwards Stadium 16 Theater stands where the Plaza Theater once stood.

If this site is correct, then based on the movies shown on the marquee, it was open at least until 1985. Perhaps it closed in 1990.
