The Blue Star Drive-In was open in 1952 with a car capacity of 300. It closed in the mid-late 1980’s. It was demolished and there is a strip center where the drive-in once stood.

Blue Star Drive-In information
Boxoffice, Sept. 1, 1958: “A Clark Transfer driver discovered a fire in the concession stand of Charlie Rowlett’s Blue Star Drive-In, Petersburg, Va. Working around the clock, Charlie was back in business come showtime.”
A Super 8, Advance Auto Parts, and a PepBoys sit in the theater’s former site.
Why the name Blue Star? Stars aren’t blue I don’t think!?
Boxoffice, July 27, 1970: “William Gearing of the Silver Spring-based B&B circuit has taken over the booking of … the Buckeye Drive-In, Buckeye, W. Va., and the Blue Star Drive-In, Petersburg, Va. These theatres were booked by the late Joe Walsh, Baltimore booker.”
