Dickinson had subleased the theatre whose lease was 25 years long to an exhibitor of Spanish language films. Then it created the new sublease above with DFG for adult films that was cancelled by the owner of the property. The former sublessee was able to screen the final bookings on November 6, 1983 of “Un Amor en Nuevo York” and “Las Sobrenas del Diablo.” The theatre was then demolished.
Closed November 2nd, 1983 after the landlord terminated the lease after it places an ad for an adult movie program in the newspaper.

The Fox opened on October 23, 1969. It’s first movie was “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.
The Boxoffice article Tinseltoes linked to says that the Fox Garvey Theatre was designed by Platt & Associates. Sidney S. Platt designed the Garvey Center, in which this theater was located, and several other major projects in Wichita.
Please note that the Fox Theatre listed on this site and the Fox Garvey are the same theatre. The ‘technical’ name for the Fox is Fox Garvey, named for the Garvey family who the part of the Wichita business district that the theatre was located in. The theatre was to have been equipped with 70mm but never took place.
