According to the Brodhead Historical Society, Stanley Swartz purchased the Broughton Opera House & annex in 1922. The annex was torn down & the Dorlyn Theater built in its place. Vera Swartz played for the silent movies until talking pictures in 1929. The Dorlyn Theater had a Link pipe organ. There was some live entertainment, one of the last being the appearance of Gene Autry. In 1932 it was purchased by Tom Smith, who in turn sold it to Roland Williams (in about 1938). It then became the Sun Theater. It operated until about 1955. Then Williams sold it to Bobby Coplein. He operated it as a theater for a short time & then remodeled it into a bar & restaurant.
