During the week between Christmas 1966 & New Years 1967, I reported to Corry Field for communications school. They were on a holiday schedule, and told me to stay out of trouble and report in on ½/1967. The first place I found was he Gulf Follies and its burlesque show. No movies, just skits and strippers. I snuck a bottle of Bacardi Rum in with me and drank it with a coke. Went back many times during my 6-month stay in Pensacola.

Back in the 60’s, the Gulf was billed as the “Gulf Follies Burlesque” with stage shows. I am uncertain as to whether they also showed movies with the stage shows (I was a child at the time, so I never went, but I remember the newspaper ads). Everything ended when the theatre was destroyed by fire.
