The 1963 motion picture almanac lists A.R. Boyd Theaters, 1530 Chestnut Street Philadelphia, as operators of the Boyd in Chester. A.R. Boyd, president, also operated the Boyd in Allentown, the Boyd and College in Bethlehem, the Boyd in Easton and the Boyd in Lancaster. His apparent megalomania brings to mind the words of Ozymandias, “Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair”.
This article from the Delaware County Daily Times dated 7/10/70 announced the closing of the Boyd:

The Boyd was a church as of 1994, as was the Roxy in Chester.
Same photos, only larger, at this site:

Yes, I imagine with the tall marquee that you could see it from quite a distance. Old photos here: (DON’T try to expand photos)

You used to be able to get a good view of the marquee from the train (Amtrak or SEPTA) heading southbound through Chester station.
According to Philadelphia Real Estate Record and Builders Guide, v. 49, n. 24, p. 188 (6/13/1934) Hoffman-Henon preparing plans and will take bids soon. Film Daily Year Book 1949 lists 682 seats.
