The Parkwood Theatre opened at Parkwood Mall (now Parkwood Place) in Prince George on April 7, 1966. Famous Players ran the single-screen house, which seated 770.
The Parkwood Theatre closed in May 1991 and was demolished to make way for expansion of the mall. Famous Players later returned to the mall when it opened the Famous Players 6 there in 1997.

According to the May 17, 1991 edition of the Prince George Citizen (link below), it was reported that the Parkwood Theatre had closed two days earlier on May 15, as part of the planned expansion of the Parkwood Mall which would necessitate the theatre’s demolition:

My stepdad Alex Barclay moved us up to Prince George from Kelowna to open this theatre, a few years later he also opened the Spruceland pretty cool
I recall your Stepdad Tamsin. We always had to clap politely at the Saturday afternoon matinee instead of screaming wildly as we were accustomed to doing at the Princess and Strand. The Parkwood was also more expensive at 35 cents compared to 25 for the other two.
