You’re right on that, Jake. The space that the Caprice had occupied (and I remember it well because I went to see The Spiderwick Chronicles there in 2008) is now home to a Dollarama dollar store.
Dollar stores and strip malls.
This opened on December 15th, 1989. Grand opening ad: Caprice Langford opening Fri, Dec 15, 1989 – 48 · Times Colonist (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada) · Newspapers.com
Thanks David. I worked very hard on this one and the MAJORITY of them are from closing day (I also had my 60D with me in the summmer so a few of them are from there too). I have also been working on some other local documenting (including more Capitol 6 photos) and hope to have those all up in Feb/March.
Jason — The number and quality of these photos show your love of this theatre. It was extremely well run and maintained. I too am sorry to see it go — most theatres built in that era certainly did not have screen curtains that opened and closed. That is a lost art.
I have uploaded over 100 photos to this page including all three theaters, lobby, exterior and projection. It took quite a while but here’s a complete document of the Caprice’s 25 year reign in Langford.
The Caprice was one of my favorite movie theaters. A world class operation all the way with perfect 35mm projection and presentation quality, run very well by staff and management and was very popular with locals.
I was a fan for many years and am very sad to see it go.
Status should now read closed. The Caprice is now closed as of January 5, as the landlord has terminated its lease and plans to renovate the theatre space for retail use.

Just got word via the Caprice website that the Caprice in Langford will be closing on January 5, 2014.
