Located in Devonport, near Plymouth, Devon, at the top end of Fore Street. The Forum Cinema was opened on 5th August 1939 with Eleanor Powell and Robert Young in “Honolulu”. It was built by the independent Devonport Cinema Co. Ltd. The auditorium is set back from and runs parallel to Fore Street. It was equipped with an RCA sound system. The Forum Cinema suffered damage from German bombs in April 1941, and the nearby Electric Cinema, Tivoli Cinema and Hippodrome were destroyed at that time. The Forum Cinema was closed for a while until repairs could be carried out.
It was equipped with CinemaScope in the mid-1950’s, but was closed on 14th May 1960. In December 1960 it was converted into a Mecca Bingo Club. Later taken over as a Top Rank Bingo Club, in the late-2000’s, it was re-branded Mecca Bingo Club again.
