Odeon opened the 800-seat Circle Theatre on November 10, 1941 with Emlyn Williams in “Heart of Britain & Johnny Downs in "Moonlight in Hawaii”. This theatre was renamed the Hyland Theatre on March 10, 1966 and played occasional roadshow films until it closed in 1979. It was later used as a warehouse by the Odeon chain, then was sold and used for Chinese-language movies for a few years, known as the Great Orient Theatre. It has since been renovated for retail.

A photo of the Hyland in its post-cinema appearance can be seen here.
A photo of what appears to be the Hyland under another name, the Great Orient (when it showed Chinese movies) is shown here. The theatre entrance and marquee above it definitely look the same as in the street view shown above.
November 10th, 1941 grand opening ad as Circle can be found in the photo section.
Removed and replaced the 1941 grand opening ad with a better version.
This became the Hyland on March 10th, 1966 with “That Darn Cat”. Grand opening ad posted.
