Capitol Square Cinemas

Famous Players opened the four-screen Capitol Square Cinemas on October 10, 1975 on the site of the old Capitol Theatre. Cineplex Odeon took over its operations in 1995, then closed the theatre on March 27, 1998. It has since been converted to office space.

Famous Players opened this four-screen cinema on October 10, 1975, with these films: “Rollerball,” “Walking Tall Part 2,” “Love and Death,” and “Three Days of the Condor.” Cineplex Odeon took over the cinema on July 28, 1995, reopening under their control with “Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home,” “Judge Dredd,” “Batman Forever,” “Species,” “The Indian in the Cupboard,” and “The Bridges of Madison County.” It closed on the evening of March 26, 1998, with its final films being “L.A. Confidential,” “The Wedding Singer,” “Dark City,” “Hush,” “Wag the Dog,” and “Eve’s Bayou.”
