The new 17th Avenue Drive-In theatre was located at 1770 E. 17th Avenue between Woodland Avenue and Joyce Avenue. The grand opening was on Thursday, July 19, 1956, as advertised in the Columbus Dispatch. The opening program was Robert Taylor in Billy the Kid", Johnny Weissmuller in “Tarzan Escapes” & Cornel Wild in “The Bandit of Sherwood Forest”. The drive in closed on September 9, 1979 with Rudy Ray Moore in “Disco Godfather”, William Elliot in “Super Dude” (aka Hangup) & “Wild and Dirty”.

Theater closing date was 9/9/79, running Disco Godfather, Super Dude and Wild & Dirty.

Strange. I can remember seeing the ad for the above three movies in the Columbus paper.
