The $14 million, 14 screen Galaxy Cannery opened on May 5, 2006. The theater is attached to the Cannery Casino but it also has a separate outside entrance.

At the time of opening, this was Southern Nevada’s first all-digital theater (all digital projection + all digital projection). Later theatres would follow suit in 2007 with the opening of the Rave (now AMC) Town Square and Regal Fiesta Henderson, and in 2008 with the opening of the Regal Aliante.

Currently, it is debatable whether or not if this theater actually has 14 or 16 screens. The theater claims to have 16 screens (with signage stating auditorium 15 AND 16), but when I was individually counting the auditorium capacities, I could not find auditoriums 7 or 8. I’ll probably take a look at it when I go back to the theater. Must be an Edwards situation… for the time being:

Auditorium capacities: 148 (1), 141 (2), 138 (3), 134 (4/DFX), 64 (5), 64 (6), 74 (9), 74 (10), 84 (11), 94 (12/D-BOX), 84 (13), 85 (14), 73 (15), 202 (16/DFX/D-BOX)

Overall capacity: 1,459 seats

I believe this theater, alongside Galaxy’s Green Valley location, was the first locations to feature recliners, being installed in early 2013, being branded “Luxury+” as a result. The old leather recliners are gradually being replaced with newer plush recliners identical to the ones featured at Galaxy’s Boulevard Mall location.

The first DFX, aka Galaxy’s own premium large format, (in so called auditorium 16) was added in the early-2010s, initially featuring imm sound, before being converted to Dolby Atmos in 2013. Laser projection was added in the mid-2010s, before a row of D-BOX recliners were added in late 2024.

Another DFX (in auditorium 4) was added as well sometime around 2024.
