Famous Players opened the 40th Avenue Drive-In on August 18, 1965 with Kirk Douglas in “For Love or Money”. It had a 200-car capacity. It expanded on May 19, 1976 to three screens with total capacity of 525 cars (150 at Screen One, 225 at Screen Two and 150 at Screen Three). This drive-in was closed on September 7, 1987.
It was demolished on November 8, 1988 and the site was redeveloped for its current occupant, the Living Stones Church.

Actual closing date is September 7, 1987. Screen 1 closed with “Adventures In Babysitting” and “Outrageous Fortune”, Screen 2 closed with “Maid to Order” and “Three For The Road”, and Screen 3 closed with “The Lost Boys” and “Who’s That Girl”. It was demolished on November 8, 1988.
